Sammanfattning
Since the digital art commission market is a new business model in the art industry, the discovery of potential mechanisms for setting digital art commission prices is considered limited. This research explores the mechanism between an artist’s reputation level by the number of followers and artwork prices in the online digital art commission market for an exploratory study of developing the pricing estimation framework. Adopting a quantitative approach, the study analyzed sample data from 103 independent artists on the HuaJia platform. The T-tests, Pearson Correlation Tests (PCT), and Simple Linear Regression Models (SLRM) are applied in this study. The dataset applies logarithmic transformations as the right-skewed data distribution has been observed to enhance statistical reliability. Empirical findings demonstrate that artists with high follower counts charge higher prices than artists with low follower counts, confirming that a positive correlation between the number of followers and artwork prices is observed. Although the correlation is statistically significant, the explanatory power for price variations (Low R^2 Results) solely described by follower count is limited. The result suggests that reputation is a multidimensional construct that cannot be fully captured by a single numerical metric. To conclude, this study confirms that the follower count as a proxy for reputation is plausible and provides empirical references for independent artists to develop pricing and competing strategies across various reputation stages.
