Approaching the Everyday - Local Tales of Bergshamra

This diploma project develops a working method for approaching everyday spatial qualities through architectural practice. The project is based in Bergshamra, a suburban environment where I have long-standing familiarity, which allows repeated returns and close attention to ordinary situations. My position as both observer and inhabitant informs the process and shapes how spatial conditions are registered over time. The work is driven by a deliberate and iterative use of drawing. Through repeated drawing in axonometric projections, I examine spatial relationships, thresholds, and patterns of movement as they appear in daily use. Drawing functions as a slow, analytical practice that supports comparison, revision, and sustained engagement with specific situations. A sequence of scenes structures the material, allowing individual moments to be studied with precision rather than resolved into a comprehensive narrative. Physical models are produced alongside the drawings to test scale, proportion, and spatial articulation. Together, these methods form a representational practice that generates architectural knowledge through attention, repetition, and careful selection. The project positions representation as an active working process through which architectural understanding is developed.
