Sammanfattning

In-ice radio detection of neutrinos is a promising technique to discover neutrinos at ultra-high energies. A crucial part of simulating the expected signals in a radio detector is the generation of Askaryan radiation from the particle cascade and its propagation through the ice. In this project, the CORSIKA8 code will be validated by comparing simulations in homogeneous media with previous results from the literature. The results demonstrate that CORSIKA8 effectively replicates the characteristics of Askaryan radiation, showing strong agreement with previous models in both time and frequency domains. While some discrepancies were noted at higher frequencies, the overall accuracy confirms CORSIKA8 as a valuable tool for future neutrino observatories, such as IceCube Gen 2 and the Radio Neutrino Observatory Greenland (RNO-G). This validation supports the continued development of in-ice radio detection as a method to advance our understanding of ultra-high energy astrophysical phenomena
