Att illustrera vägen till ett nytt hjärta : En studie i att informera om hjärttransplantation med hjälp av informativa illustrationer

This study is a bachelor thesis in the field of Information design with focus on Informative illustration. The purpose of the thesis is to investigate how to illustrate information about heart transplantation that is easy to interpret while also not causing discomfort, with a focus on the abstraction level of the illustration. The illustrations are based on the text available in the HeartLung Foundation's brochure on heart transplantation. In the design of the illustrations, theories of cognition, perception, abstraction, and serial narration have been the basis. Theories and research on memory and how images can help us remember and understand information have also been relevant. Methods used in the work are expert interviews, shape analysis, and questionnaires for evaluation. The report describes the design process which, together with the answers in the questionnaire formed the basis for the final illustrations. The study resulted in digital illustrations that are completely colored. They have neither a high nor a low level of abstraction but ended up at an intermediate level.
