This thesis examines burial palls within the Church of Sweden, with a focus on documentation, creation processes and material design. The study combines a survey of burial palls documented in the southern parts of the Diocese of Uppsala with case studies of three selected objects. Using perspectives from material culture theory, the thesis analyses how burial palls are shaped through the interaction between materials, social relations and place. The study shows that the documentation is often incomplete, while the examined burial palls reveal complex relationships between craftmanship, local environments, church interiors and collective processes within the parish context.
