This study examines the management and reuse of concrete slurry, which is generated during concrete production in connection with the cleaning of transport vehicles, mixers, and other equipment. Concrete slurry can be viewed as both a technical challenge and a potential resource. The purpose of the study is to map out current practices for managing concrete slurry and to examine the relevant regulations. To achieve this objective, interviews were conducted, in which active companies within Svensk Betong (Swedish concrete company association), regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders were interviewed. Additionally, a calculation was performed to estimate the amount of concrete slurry generated annually by member companies of Svensk Betong. The results show that the handling and reuse of concrete slurry vary between plants. The regulations that regulatory authorities must currently adhere to leave room for interpretation, which leads to varying requirements for the plants. The estimate of the amount of concrete slurry yielded a slurry factor of 0.55 % of the factories total concrete production, which for member companies corresponds to 71 800 tons per year. Nationally, large volumes of concrete slurry are generated, indicating that the reuse of this material should be developed. In summary, the results show that the differing views on management, reuse, and guidelines related to concrete slurry require a change.
