Background: Accurate and accessible assessment of body composition, particularly visceral adipose tissue, is essentialfor evaluating metabolic health and preventing disease. Although imaging techniques such as computedtomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provide highly accurate measurements, theirroutine clinical use is limited by high costs, limited availability, and methodological complexity.Consequently, alternative methods including bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), air displacementplethysmography (BodPod), and ultrasound combined with strain elastography have been developed asmore accessible approaches for assessing body composition and visceral fat. Each method offers distinctadvantages and limitations regarding accuracy, practicality, and clinical applicability. Aim: This study aims to investigate the correlation and agreement between BIA and ultrasound with strainelastography in estimating visceral fat, using BodPod as the reference method. Additionally, the studyexamines how body composition influences measurement results and whether standardized measurementprotocols can reduce variability. Method: Thirty healthy adult participants aged 18 to 60 years were included in the study. Body composition wasassessed using BodPod, BIA and ultrasound with strain elastography under controlled conditions.Ultrasound measurements were performed using a pressure indicator to ensure consistent application offorce. BodPod provided reference values for total body fat percentage (FM%). Result and conclusion: The results show a moderate correlation between BIA and ultrasound in measuring visceral fat, with bodyfat percentage influencing the strength of correlation. Strain elastography contributed to improvedreliability of ultrasound by reducing operator-dependent variability. Both BIA and ultrasound wereaffected by individual body composition and operator technique, underscoring the importance ofstandardized protocols and operator training to enhance measurement accuracy. Further studies withlarger sample sizes are recommended to validate these findings.
