This project explores the design of a next-generation mobile shower commode chair forEtac AB, intended for home-based, single-person care within a 10 to 15-year timeframe.Converging trends, such as an ageing population, the sift of healthcare into domesticsettings, and rising single-person households will place increasing demands onassistive products to be intuitive, ergonomic, and visually compatible with homeenvironments, a gap that most current products fail to address.Following the Double Diamond framework, the project combined a STEEP trendanalysis, competitor analysis, and user needs mapping to establish 51 productspecifications. Six concepts were developed and evaluated through stakeholderworkshops at Etac, leading to a final design featuring an organic tube frame, ahyperbolic paraboloid backrest, foldable armrests, and a consistent single-buttonadjustment mechanism. A four-color palette distinguishes functional zones andhighlights interactive elements intuitively.The final concept was presented as a 1:1 scale physical model and serves as adirectional blueprint for Etac’s next generation of mobile shower commode chairs.
