Decentralizing the Construction of Exhibition History: The Case of FilmCentrum-Sydost

This essay investigates archival documents found in Växjö’s Kulturarvscentrum Småland to explore the film exhibition practices of FilmCentrum-Sydost through the lenses of useful cinema and new film history. This regional branch of FilmCentrum has been hitherto unexplored, increasing the importance of delving into the study. The essay also illustrates the value of local archives as resources in the field of film historiography and reflects upon how illuminating microhistories can benefit our understanding of macro-histories.
