Sammanfattning

Metal dusting is a severe corrosion process that occurs in carburising environments. Having beenextensively researched in the petrochemical industry, its effects on Ni-based superalloys for spaceapplications have not been thoroughly explored despite similarities with the environmental conditions.Replicating the operating conditions of a rocket presents significant challenges, as it involves methane,extreme temperature, and high pressure.Common methods for conducting metal dusting experiments may not be directly applicable tocreate a carburising environment with carbon powder. Therefore, this project aims to develop anew approach of studying metal dusting in those conditions with reduced risks. This project alsohighlighted the selection of experimental parameters and processes. Furthermore, each step was testedand evaluated for further improvements.
