Ekokritiska perspektiv i samhällskunskapsdidaktik : Om EkoStrata-modellens didaktiska potential; med utgångspunkt i en kvalitativ ekokritisk textanalys av Octavia E. Butler's Parable of the Sower (1993)

Sammanfattning

Our planet is constantly changing and over the years, humans will increasingly have to answer for the anthropogenic climate changes that we have caused. The school's mission is to educate young people to take responsibility. Students should also gain knowledge through reading fiction. Imagine if we could combine these two: fiction and sources for taking responsibility. What would the result be and how would it subsequently affect the environment? In this study, Octavia E. Butler's dystopia Parable of the Sower (1993) is used as a source of understanding for how students should have the opportunity to develop ecoliteracy, moral principles and critical thinking. The result is a new perspective on how ecocriticism takes hold of its obvious place within the social studies subject. To visualize this, a new model has been created, the EcoStrata model, which suggests that fiction, ecocritical starting points, democracy-building principles and the school's core values ​​go hand in hand when the teacher intends to shape more ecocentric and climate-conscious students.
