Sammanfattning

The study investigated how the community police officers 1within the Southern Skåne Police Area applied evidence-based methods in crime prevention work with young people. The study was conducted using a qualitative method and conducted seven semi-structured interviews with active community police officers within the Southern Skåne Police Area. The results show a low application of evidence-based methods in the daily work. Community police officers lack relevant knowledge about the methods and the working methods are often based on experience and silent knowledge. Furthermore, the results indicate that there is a lack of ability to analyze and evaluate implemented methods within the local police areas. There is a lack of operationalization within the organization, which indicates a need for more implementation science. Furthermore, the results indicate that community police officers have a generally low level of education in crime prevention work. Another aspect is that the community police officers are used for other tasks that lie outside their basic assignment, which affects the long-term nature of crime prevention work. In addition, the study shows that there is a lack of collaboration between the community police officers within the Police Area of Southern Skåne. The study indicates a need for more research on how evidence-based methods can be applied to a greater extent by the Swedish police. Furthermore, the study shows the need for research on the implementation of impact goals and how organizational barriers can be reduced at the local level.
