Sammanfattning

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) can be a completely renewable fuel depending on its source and is used globally in heavy-duty vehicles to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide compared todiesel. However, the reliability of these vehicles, and particularly their fuel system components, can be significantly affected by contaminants present in the fuel. This thesis aimed to finalize, assemble, and verify the functionality of a test rig designed to inject contaminants into the fuelsystem, enabling accelerated wear testing of these components. The test rig was mounted inplace of the original fuel system on a CNG-powered truck and was capable of simultaneously injecting both oil and solid contaminants. Through various tests, some degree of control over the injected amounts was achieved, confirming the test rig’s functionality. This capability proves the rig’s potential for conducting reliable and accelerated wear testing on fuel system components, which is crucial for improving the durability and performance of CNG-powered vehicles.
