The implementation of healthcare artificial intelligence (HAI) technologies is believed to improve both quality and efficiency in Swedish healthcare. It is important for clinicians to trust in HAI for such technologies to be successfully implemented. Three recent review articles have summarized lists of potential characteristics that might impact clinician trust in HAI. This study tries to answer which of these previously identified characteristics of HAI technologies that most significantly affect the trust Swedish medical doctors place in them. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten Swedish doctors. Results show that performance assurance and data safety were perceived as most important. Several other factors such as decision-making transparency and usability were also identified as important. Most findings are in line with previous research yet provide deeper insights into the interplay between HAI characteristics and trust. Future studies could take a quantitative approach to explore which factors Swedish doctors perceive as most important. Furthermore, there are several complex concepts such as power-control balance that remain to be fully understood.
