Från studieort till hemstad : En kvalitativ studie om utexaminerade studenters skältill att bo kvar i sin studieort efter examen

The purpose of this study it to create an understanding of the reasons behind graduate students’ decision to remain in Skaraborg after completing their studies at the University of Skövde. The study was conducted using a qualitative method by interviews, in order to fulfill the purpose of the study. Graduates from the University of Skövde were interviewed with the requirement of them staying in Skaraborg after graduation. The study was conducted to benefit the municipality of Skövde and the development of the city. The results show that social network, career opportunities, the housing that respondents already have in Skaraborg, as well as the perception that the city is of a suitable size were the most valuable reasons to stay. The findings of the study could contribute to the growth and development of the municipality of Skövde through increasing knowledge of what affects the decision to remain in Skaraborg after graduation.
