Sammanfattning

This study explores how social workers working with sexual violence experience, reflect on and describe pornography in relation to their work with young clients. The purpose of the study is adressed through two research questions concerning how issues of sexuality and pornography arise in client interactions, and what reflections are made about the significance of pornography for sexual boundaries and violence. The thesis is a qualitative interview study conducted applying an inductive thematic analysis. The interview study was carried out through semi-structured interviews and the theories used in the study are Julian Rappaports theory of empowerment and Lipskys theory of discretion. The findings of the study show that social workers face a complex challenge in their responsibility to problematize potential risks related to pornography and sexuality while also approaching clients with a non-judgemental perspective. The results also indicate that social workers place importance on preventative work regarding pornography. Furthermore it shows that social workers working with clients and questions about sexuality need to keep pace with digital developments,as pornography are increasingly intertwined with the digital media landscape. They must as social workers adress conflicting emotions and adapt their work to each individual case to meet the specific support needs.
