Sammanfattning

The increasing concentration of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and sulfurhexafluoride (SF6) has raised significant environmental concerns, including global warming and climate change. In this study, a series of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) were synthesized using the organic linker H4TCPB and different divalent metal centers — Co, Cu, Ni, and Mn — to evaluate their potential for selective gas adsorption. Gas adsorption analysis revealed that Co- and Mn-based MOFs exhibited the highest CO2 and SF6 capacity, which was attributed to their high surface area. Interestingly, Cu-based MOF showed the highest selectivity for both CO2 and SF6 over N2, despite having the lowest surface area, suggesting strong specific interactions with these gases. These findings highlight the influence of metal centers on gas adsorption behavior and suggest that further optimization of Cu-based MOFs could yield materials with both high capacity and selectivity for targeted gas separation applications.
