Children's learning and development are greatly affected by their environment. School is the place, apart from home, where children spend the most time. The design of a school therefore has a great impact not only on children's learning and development but also a significant impact on their general well-being and participation in society. In a development of Sundbyholm, with an increase in the number of residents, there will also be an increase in the number of children, who currently would have to get on the school bus every morning to get to a school in another part of the municipality. This would have a negative impact on the children's conditions for learning and lead to a reduced sense of belonging to their home and community. Lövgårda school is therefore planned in close proximity to the residential areas in Sundbyholm and is designed according to the children's conditions for learning and identity creation. The goal of Lövgårda school is not only to create a place well adapted for the child when they sit at the school desk, but also to invite all other parts of society. Lövgårda school is a rounded wooden building, divided into four parts that are lifted off the ground with the help of a yellow lacquered steel construction. The school's program is designed for 450 students from 1st to 9th grade and includes both classrooms and unprogrammed areas for play and socializing, both indoors and outdoors. The building also includes a restaurant, library, co-working areas and a small health center, all open to the public. The hope is that Lövgårda school will, with the help of architecture and construction, become a place that improves the children's conditions for learning and development and connects them with all of Sundbyholm.
