Sammanfattning
Due to the sensitive nature of the findings presented in this thesis, the name of thecompany has been withheld. Henceforth, every instance where the company’s nameappears will be replaced with "Company AB" or covered. This thesis investigates how migrating from a plugin-dependent CMS to a custom-built full-stack system affects website security and performance. The study wasconducted through the redevelopment of the Company AB platform, transitioningfrom a WordPress-based solution to a custom-built web application designed withgreater control over architecture, dependencies, and optimization. To evaluate the impact of this migration, the two systems were analyzed and com-pared based on security vulnerabilities and performance-related metrics. Securitywas assessed by identifying and categorizing detected vulnerabilities, while perfor-mance was measured through indicators such as loading speed, blocking time, andpage stability. Overall, the findings suggest that transitioning from a plugin-dependent CMS toa custom-built architecture can provide measurable improvements in security aswell as performance.
