Sammanfattning

The purpose of the present study is to model the acquisition of grammatical structures by using a minimal cognitive architecture meant to mirror human memory and learning. Reinforcement learning tasks are defined as identifying sentence borders in a part-of-speech tagged stream of child-directed speech from parents in interaction with their child. The significance of chronology in speech input is also explored by arranging the data into three conditions: chronological, reverse chronological and randomised. Results show short sentences being beneficial for the model’s learning, rather than any one of the conditions.
