Sammanfattning

Robots and artificial intelligence are becoming an increasingly central part of today’s society. With the implementation of the two in various organizational functions, the question of their capability is highly relevant. Within the field of voluntary work, recruitment plays a crucial role. There are many different reasons as to why humans decide to work voluntarily, which is a prosocial behavior. This raises the question of how robots could perform in recruiting people for voluntary work, and if and how robots can induce prosocial behavior into humans. This study investigates the potential of humanoid robots to replace or complement humans in recruiting voluntary workers. The research aims to compare the effectiveness of human interaction with that of humanoid-robot interaction in influencing individuals’ willingness to engage in voluntary work. By examining the dynamics of perceived social connection, warmth, and competence in interactions with humans and robots, the study seeks to uncover the unique aspects of human-robot interaction that impact individuals’ motivation to participate in voluntary work.
