The aim of this study is to examine how squatting can be explained as an communicative action and the role of newpapers in facilitating dialogue between the involved parties. The essay is focusing on the occupation of the fire station in Jönköping 1982 and examines the lokal newspaper Smålands Folkblad and Jönköpings-Posten. The theoretical framework is based on Jan Carles dialogical perspective. This study employs text analytical tools at its primary method. One of the main conclusions of the study is that newspapers have a important role in creating and maintain a dialogue. The occupation can be explained as a means of dialouge, but it is needed more to maintain the dialogue. The occupiers need to use the newspaper skillfully to maintain a dialogue.
