OCP Policy Pulse : The Development of an AI-Powered User Interface for Finding Data Center Heat Reuse Policies

As a result of the growth of artificial intelligence (AI) in recent years, the demand for data centers has increased significantly, and with it incentives to capture and reuse their generated excess heat. Consequently, well functioning and efficient systems for finding, analyzing and browsing relevant policies and regulations for data centers are becoming increasingly important. This thesis investigates how to create a user-friendly interface for an AI based tool intended for gathering and handling information in a technical field such as heat reuse policies for data centers. The frontend application developed in this thesis was written in React and is presented as a web-based interface. The interface was developed by researching and adhering to relevant design principles and was later adjusted according to user testing. The user testing showed that the user interface (UI) was relatively easy to use and most of the participants successfully completed all the tasks outlined in the test. The testing process also identified areas where the design could be further improved.
