Sammanfattning
The purpose of this study is to analyse how a Vertical lifting Module affect warehouse operations from an economic, effective and ergonomic standpoint. Research questions: To what extent can the introduction of a warehouse lift be a cost-effective solution compared with manual picking processes? Which items are best suited for storage and handling in a warehouse lift? How does a warehouse lift affect the physical strain and ergonomic working conditions of the operators? This study used both qualitative method and quantitative method with an abductive approach. Combining with six sigma as a method to Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and control. As a guide for logical and a structural approach through the entirety of the study. Along with collection of qualitative data and quantitative data, interviews were conducted and article data from the processes collected. The six sigma model gave the study a comprehensive understanding of the causes of ineffectivity and how a warehouse lift could be used to improve the effectiveness. The study concludes that in the case of Wiretronic AB a warehouse lift can be beneficial in improving the manual picking process due to the improvement ineffectivity. Due to the effectivity improvement it also generates economic advantages in cost savings related to staff and reduced picking errors. Simultaneously providing the staff with a more ergonomic everyday life by reducing physical strain.
