Sammanfattning

This thesis investigates the optimization of electropolishing parameters for stainless steel 316, a process widely used in industries requiring high surface quality. The aim is to support the development of a future electropolishing production line by identifying effective process settings and associated safety measures. A combination of literature review and experimental testing was used. The optimal result was achieved with a phosphoric-to-sulfuric acid ratio of 2:1, at 35°C for 45 minutes, with a current density of 8A/dm2 and voltage of 6V. An environmentally friendly NaCl-based electrolyte was also tested and while ineffective in this study, showed promise for future research.
