Sammanfattning

This thesis presents the development and evaluation of a digital twin for a mine dewatering system with the goal of supporting real-time decision-making. The proposed digital twin integrates physical modeling of water dynamics and pump operation with real system data, enabling accurate representation of system behavior under varying operating conditions. A key contribution of this work is the incorporation of time-varying electricity prices as a driver for optimization. By leveraging these price signals, the digital twin enables cost-aware operational planning. In addition, a battery energy storage system is introduced as an energy buffer, providing flexibility to shift energy consumption from high-price to low-price periods. The results demonstrate that the digital twin can accurately capture system dynamics and support reliable decision-making in practice. Furthermore, the integration of battery storage and price-based optimization leads to significant potential for energy cost reduction while maintaining safe system operation. The findings highlight the importance of coordinated control between pumping and energy storage.
