Sammanfattning

Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) play a crucial role in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) by enabling real-time communication between vehicles and infrastructure. However, ensuring the authenticity of vehicle positions remains a significant challenge due to possible location spoofing attacks. This thesis investigates physical verification mechanisms for VANETs by integrating multisensor fusion techniques, including LiDAR and RSSIbased distance estimation. An Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) is utilized to improve localization accuracy and detect inconsistencies in reported positions. A Physical Challenge-Response Protocol (PCRP) is used to dynamically verify vehicle presence. The system is evaluated using a simulation framework that combines CARLA, VEINS, and SUMO, demonstrating improved resilience against falsified location data. Experimental results show that the proposed approach enhances position verification and mitigates potential security threats in VANETs.
