This text looks at worlding as an artistic methodology through which fictional artefacts, technological devices and embodied practices become tools for rehearsing alternative technological universes. Drawing on experiences ranging from live-action role play and forestry research archives to sculptural installation and performance, it explores how worlds are made tangible through use, maintenance and material engagement rather than representation alone. Central to the essay is an interest in technologies that remain visibly dependent or in relation to their environments: solar-powered devices, salvaged electronics, improvised infrastructures, and systems that expose rather than conceal their conditions of operation. Through the figure of an abandoned researcher and the remnants of industrial and scientific infrastructures, the essay examines how extraction and myth-making continue to shape contemporary technological imaginaries. The text further investigates the persistent overlap between technology and magic, tracing connections between programming, occult narratives, and contemporary artificial intelligence. Rather than treating magic as the opposite of technical knowledge, it considers both as practices that engage hidden systems through specialised languages, rituals, and acts of interpretation. Reclaiming this association becomes a way of challenging the manufactured opacity of technological power and rehearsing more participatory relationships to the infrastructures that organise everyday life.
