Sammanfattning

Simultaneously with Tiktok’s increasing popularity, the app has also become a crucial actor on the political stage. Largely due to the app’s unique media logic, the field of political communication has been reconfigured and evolved in different ways. The aim of this study is to examine how the Swedish Left Party aligns with this and ultimately how they produce and present content on Tiktok. Through a qualitative analysis approach, 45 posts have been analysed within a theoretical framework consisting of mediatization theory, as well as framing theory. By examining the party’s content, recurring patterns and tendencies were identified, eventually resulting in the establishment of five major content types. Furthermore, the Left Party’s portrayal of their party leader Nooshi Dadgostar was examined. The findings showed that she plays an important role in the party’s content, and undeniable aspects of personalization were found. Furthermore, the party’s utilization of criticism towards other Swedish political actors was looked at, with results illustrating the Left Party’s repeated delivery of criticism, executed in a variety of ways. Overall, the continuous balance of political logic and media logic, alongside strong politainment elements, should be emphasized.
