Sammanfattning

Main motive of this work is to facilitate green steel production by making efficient use of iron ore fines. Iron ore pellets are often subjected to several steps of transportation, handling, and screening before processing to the reduction in blast furnace and/or direct reduction. During these steps, significant amount of pellets fines is inevitably generated. The generated pellets fines cannot be charged into the ironmaking or steelmaking processes without proper agglomeration. Using traditional binders increases the gauge oxides and consequently reduce the quality and efficiency of the agglomerates. This research work mainly focuses on the practicality of using organic binders for agglomeration of pellets fines followed by direct reduction with hydrogen thereby enabling recirculation of fossil-free residues in the steel industry. Hydraulic compression testing machine and thermogravimetric analysis are being incorporated in this work to investigate the mechanical strength and the reduction behaviour of produced briquettes. Furthermore, effect of organic binder type, binder dose, compaction pressure, moisture content, and curing time has also been explored through this work.
