Background: Recruitment and selection have been constantly evolving throughout the years, where the use of AI became influential for recruiters, yet novel. This study explores the AI applications and tools that are currently used by Swedish tech companies of different sizes across the stages of the recruitment and selection process, as well as examines the differences and similarities between them. Moreover, benefits and challenges Swedish tech companies perceive in using AI in this process are also discussed in this thesis. Aim: The study aims to investigate how Swedish tech companies of different sizes use AI to shape their recruitment and selection process. Methodology: A qualitative research method such as a multiple case study was selected to compare and contrast evidence gathered from several cases. The data was collected via semi-structured interviews with HR professionals from six Swedish tech companies of different sizes, supported by secondary data. It was later analyzed using thematic analysis by identifying emerging themes and codes. Findings: The findings present a comprehensive overview of AI applications and tools used in the recruitment and selection process, providing insights about its different stages. This study also reveals the benefits and challenges perceived in using AI in the recruitment and selection process. The findings highlight that while efficiency through the use of AI is a significant benefit, human presence is needed, raising the importance of being conscious of how AI is used. Additionally, this research proposes a framework highlighting company size factors influencing the use of AI in the recruitment and selection process.
