Sammanfattning

Video games are considered interactive media in which game users or players actively engage with the system to create meaningful play. As in other medias, in order to effectively communicate to the audience, it requires a system that elaborate on the combination of languages, audio and especially visual design. While visual design in video games is often mentioned by the user interface or level design, the visual cues can also be embedded in the feedback loops. They function as a system that informs player actions, help reinforce the players heuristic, and guide decision making toward game objectives. This type of semiotic system is designed by developers to convey information in a subtle way, requiring players to interpret meanings through learning cycles in the game.
