Sammanfattning

This master thesis is based on studies conducted during an internship at Fluidyn,a consultancy company specializing in fluid simulations. The main objective wasto conduct a sensitivity study on the numerical modeling parameters of ventilationsystems on nuclear facilities. Given the strict safety and control requirementsestablished, the homogeneity criteria of gaseous and particulate flows were verifiedin accordance with ISO standards. The mesh resolution, including the boundarylayer, different turbulence models, and particle tracking method choices wereevaluated. The methodological approach involved different sampling methods andverification of the results. These results helped determine the best practices fornumerical modeling of ventilation systems. The results highlighted the robustnessof the RNGk-𝜖 modelwhenthemeshwaschangedandtheaccuracy of the k-𝜔 SSTmodel when the mesh was refined. In addition, this study validated other modelingchoices such as inlet conditions and assumptions regarding aerosols. Through thismaster thesis work, skills in fluid simulations, whether for gas or particle flows, aswell as skills in managing deadlines, client relations, and engineering supervision, were developed.
