Sammanfattning

In this thesis two methods of measuring touch and step voltages are simulated and compared. In addition to the established Heavy-Current Injection Method, a new method for measuring touch and step voltages has been developed, called the High-Voltage Method. When conducting measurements using these methods, different results can sometimes be observed. To explain these discrepancies, both methods were modeled and simulated in XGSLab. Simulated measurements of prospective touch voltages were performed for two simplified test cases as well as five real-world locations. The results show that generally higher touch voltages appear with the High-Voltage Method, compared to the Heavy-Current Injection Method. However, at some measurement locations, lower touch voltages were instead observed with the High-Voltage Method. Analysis of the simulations revealed that a greater Earth Potential Rise was present in the High-Voltage Method, which can explain the general higher touch voltages. Further, the observed deviated measurements could instead be explained by grid specific circumstances, which could include inductive coupling or the presence and shifting of pivot points on the earthing system. The results indicate that the new High-Voltage Method could be a viable complement to the established Heavy-Current Injection Method for the measurement of touch and step voltages.
