Background: Intimate partner violence is a major social problem which affects the health of many people. Nurses in primary care have a significant role as a first safety net for people exposed to intimate partner violence. This is because primary care is one of the first agencies that comes in contact with victims of violence. The nurse-patient relationship is a fundamental component in nursing and is crucial for the patient’s trust in the nurse. Good communication is essential for the care of patient´s exposed to intimate partner violence. Aim: To describe nurses support interventions for patients exposed to intimate partner violence in primary care settings. Methods: The study is a general literature study based on twelve scientific articles. Result: the study´s results revealed three main themes: support interventions, facilitating factors and nurses’ teamwork as a supportive measure. The results highlight how nurses should relate to patients exposed to intimate partner violence and how they can implement support interventions. Conclusion: Despite well developed support measures for patients exposed to intimate partner violence; the guidelines appear to be inadequate. With the right training and good teamwork, the conditions for being able to offer patients good and safe care increase.
