Sammanfattning

The sustainability of an entrepreneurship is heavily guided by the motives of an entrepreneur to exploit the opportunities. However, the dependency on the sustainability pillars (TBL) of social, environmental, and economic aspects determines the sustainability of entrepreneurship. Exploring these two aspects of entrepreneurial motives and their practice with the sustainability pillars to create local embeddedness and resilience in the local food system are the main objectives of the study. This qualitative study of socially sustainable entrepreneurship in the local food system in western Nepal’s context explores the interconnection between entrepreneurial motives and the interaction among sustainability pillars. The study was able to enlarge the picture of traditional profit motives that were either by-products or results of social and environmental sustainability. Sustainable entrepreneur’s actions are embedded with community needs, resulting in a communal value of the enterprises in mutual benefits.
