Speculating A Future of AI Intimacy

Our society is deeply shaped by technology, and its influence continues to grow. While technology is not inherently harmful, it is important to remain aware of how we allow it to shape our lives, behavioural pattern, and values. This study takes a speculative and feminist approach to explore the ethical and social consequences of impulsive technology integration. It focuses on the replacement of humans by artificial intelligence, particularly within intimate and caring relationships. This speculative framing makes it possible to reflect critically on the choices being made in design today. Imagining a speculative future in which technological integration is left unquestioned reveals how current ways of thinking may be shortsighted and lacking. Through a feminist approach, the study reflects on certain present ethical and social values by applying them in design, resulting in a product that not only embodies these values but also highlights the assumptions they carry. The research concluded that all design reflects human behaviour, beliefs, and values and that failing to question how certain designs or technologies are integrated can be harmful, as it will perpetuate harm to marginalised people.
