Sammanfattning

In my bachelor's thesis, I focused on Sunnerby, a small village northwest of Nynäshamn with just over 600 inhabitants. Sunnerby lacks important functions and programs that a hybrid building can offer, such as cafés, meeting places, and venues for celebrations. I visited Sunnerby several times, inventoried over 300 houses, interviewed residents, and studied archives, which resulted in the report "Sunnerby i 50 Fasader." The village is mainly built in the 1970s, reflected in roof angles, window rhythms, and material choices reminiscent of the "catalog house era" in Sweden. This inspired the design of a hybrid building with four parts: assembly hall, café, meeting house, and youth center, all adapted to Sunnerby's early building style with updated technology to prevent common moisture problems of 70s houses. I noted that the former preschool, which was located between the elementary school and the nursing home, had been demolished due to moisture damage and other political reasons, and now stands as a gravel plot with no construction plans. On this site, I explore how a hybrid building could enhance everyday quality of life while complementing Sunnerby's existing character.
