Sammanfattning

The aim of this thesis is to understand the contribution of MNC through knowledge and technology transfer on innovation and sustainable development in developing Countries- A Case Study of Nigeria. A qualitative approach is used to study the speed and scope at which this impact can be seen and how the current local innovation ecosystem is to be able to capture KTS. Our results show that the level of knowledge and technology spillover through FDI is not enough for sustainability development to take effect in Nigeria. Indeed, our illustrated conceptual framework demonstrated that a functioning local innovation ecosystem can promote the level of foreign direct investment, which means that if the level of local innovation ecosystem becomes efficient and effective there will be an increase in Nigeria's absorptive capacity, FDI will also follow and innovation that leads to sustainable development. Thus, the Nigerian government and key actors must play the key role of improving the local innovation ecosystem to attract investments from abroad. The overall social, environmental, and economic situation of Nigeria must be ameliorating by policies and regulations, which can attract and protect investors, even to attract Nigerian Diaspora’s investment.
