The automotive industry is undergoing rapid transformation driven by digitalization and theincreasing integration of artificial intelligence (AI). AI has become an important technologyin modern vehicles through applications such as advanced driver assistance systems,predictive maintenance, and personalized infotainment systems. At the same time, theimplementation of AI creates new organizational, technical, and ethical challenges forautomotive manufacturers. The purpose of this study is to examine how AI is influencing theautomotive industry, with a particular focus on vehicle functions, customer value, andstrategic challenges for drivers. The study applies a qualitative research approach based on aliterature review of previous academic research and industry-related sources. By analyzingexisting studies, the thesis identifies key opportunities and challenges linked to the use of AIin vehicles. The findings show that AI can improve road safety, driving efficiency, userexperience, and operational processes within automotive companies. AI-driven systems alsoenable greater personalization and create possibilities for new business models based onsoftware and connected services. However, the results also indicate significant challenges,including cybersecurity risks, data privacy concerns, high development costs, and legalresponsibility issues related to autonomous systems. Furthermore, successful AI adoptionrequires organizational change, new competencies, and continuous software developmentcapabilities. The study concludes that AI is becoming a strategic necessity rather than anoptional innovation in the automotive sector. Companies that successfully combinetechnological development with customer trust, safety, and regulatory compliance are likelyto strengthen their competitive position in the future automotive market.
