Sammanfattning

This thesis examines the sustainability challenges associated with end of life (EOL) of wind turbine blades (WTBs) and investigates how circular recycling technologies can support a more sustainable energy transition. Using a PRISMA 2020 guidelines that built on systematic literature review that helps in consolidating 1146 peer-reviewed articles to 90 most relevant peer-reviewed articles or dataset. A thorough analysis based on this dataset reveal answers of three research questions (RQs) that were carefully formulated to capture the essence of thesis topic. The study not only evaluates existing and emerging WTB recycling technologies from all three lenses of sustainability but also 18 different themes addressed in the dataset. This gives a bird’s eye view of complexity and diversity of the challenge. The innovations in recycling technologies should be seen as a facilitator and mediator, but the real strength lies in stakeholders’ collaboration to capture synergies to maturely and effectively response growing WWTBs.
