Sammanfattning

This thesis explores the possibilities of automating display and signal data migration in power grid systems using ETL tools and artificial intelligence. The core problem addressed is the time-consuming and error-prone manual process of migrating data from a legacy or third-party Network Control System (NCS) to Hitachi Energy’s Network Manager (NM) platform. The contribution of this thesis involves evaluating Pentaho Data Integration (PDI) and NCNC (Network Control Nerve Center) ETL tools, and assessing a computer vision-based AI model for replicating engineering displays from Single Line Diagrams (SLDs). The final results demonstrate that PDI is capable of migrating crucial parts of the database, and that AI-driven engineering display generation can effectively automate tasks that were previously performed manually. Combining both tools in one pipeline would allow future projects to reduce migration time, improve data integrity, and enhance customer satisfaction through more efficient deployment processes.
