Sammanfattning

This study tests whether wind energy can supply useful local power on urban high-rise buildings. It uses secondary data from 39 projects worldwide, of which 38 are dated from 2000 to 2020. The first wave peaked in 2008 to 2012. Outcomes are grouped as operating, operating at low or demo output, removed, or study. We compare turbine type, integration style, region, and simple capacity-factor checks based on reported annual MWh and installed kW. Verticalaxis turbines are more common and somewhat more durable than horizontal-axis units in turbulent city flow, yet many projects deliver modest energy. Seven credible capacity factors sit between about 1.7 and 17.8 percent, with most in the low single digits. Schemes integrated at the design stage persist more than retrofits. Better results occur where turbines sit in clean edge jets or use ducts or guide vanes to concentrate inflow. Hybrid wind plus solar improves reliability and economics in many roofs. Policy clarity on noise, structure, and permits helps projects to last. The study concludes that urban wind is feasible only in select conditions, and is best framed as part of a measured, hybrid approach.
