”Vad vill ni ha till arkivet?” : Informationsskapande och arkivering av arkeologiskt dokumentationsmaterial

This study investigates how information is generated at contract archaeological excavations in the growing digital landscape in Sweden. The aim is to broaden the understanding about information generation in contract archaeological works, how it is created and stored. This is a qualitative study utilising the interpretational tools presented in Actor-Network theory to understand interactions between human and nonhuman actors. The study also looks at the creation, documentation and archiving of archaeological documentation material from the perspective of the Record Continuum model and where in the different dimensions it all fits. Lastly the study investigates how and where the archaeological documentation material is archived and whether the reality is consistent with the expectations from the legislation. The study was conducted by interviewing six archaeologists with project management roles over the course of five interviews. In the interviews the archaeologists testified that digital methods are more and more utilized in their everyday work, but was also concerned about the lack of standardisation when it comes to a common nomenclature in the field. Lastly they are concerned about the lack of information about what and where the documentation material is supposed to be archived. Especially when it comes to geodata generated by the use of GPS and GIS-programes.
