The study has examined how Value Stream Mapping (VSM) in combination with the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) can be used to identify and prioritize improvement measures in administrative processes. The study was conducted with a theoretical foundation and as a case study, and it covered the company’s order and quotation management between the internal business system and several external customer portals. The work focused on streamlining and freeing up working time for more value-creating activities, with an emphasis on automation. Data collection was carried out through observations, workshops, and time measurements of the various steps in the process. Using VSM, the current state was mapped, value-adding and non-value-adding activities were identified, and a time analysis was performed. Based on the analysis, future state process maps were developed and evaluated using the Analytic Hierarchy Process. The decision analysis weighed the criteria against each other to enable a structured prioritization. The results show that the combination of VSM and AHP provides a clear and systematic basis for decision-making in the improvement of administrative processes. The study also demonstrates that the methods together can contribute to reduced lead times, reduced manual work, and improved information flow through increased automation and standardization.
