Sammanfattning
Käppala wastewater treatment plant cleans wastewater from 11 municipalities in Stockholm area. In conjunction with the purification process, sewage sludge is being eroded, upgraded to vehicle gas and sold to Sweden's local traffic. In addition to water treatment, the focus is on having as much energy-efficient utilization of resources as possible. In this report, a technical survey of the plant has been carried out to identify the heat demand, losses and supply of heat. Calculation of heat demand has been made for the plant's largest heat-consuming processes, which include heating of sludge, heating of supply air in themountain facility and heating of the office building. A study of optimization opportunities has been made as a result of the energy audit. The results of the thermal mapping and optimization have been analysed, and several improvement proposals have been presented as well as a number of weaknesses in the operation control system have been identified. The results and conclusions of this report are aimed at providing knowledge about the heating system in this wastewater treatment plant and gives suggestions on how to reduce the amount of heat loss through optimization and wise resource usage.
