Sammanfattning

This study investigates a filter based on Perpetual Filtration Technology (PFT), developed by Airission, and its ability to remove particles from ventilation air in a commercial kitchen environment. In parallel, a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and aLife Cycle Costing (LCC) analysis were conducted to evaluate the filter’s environmental impact and cost over its full lifespan. The results show that the filter performs as intended and effectively reduces particle concentrations, particularly for sizes ≥1μm. However, the reduction of the smallest particles (0.3μm) was limited. The LCA shows that the usage phase accounts for the largest climate impact, mainly due to electricity consumption. The LCC analysis indicates a high initial cost but low operational costs thanks to the filter’s self-cleaning function. The PFT system shows strong potential as an alternative to conventional filters in environments with high particle generation. In settings with strict air purity requirements, such as hospitals, supplementary HEPA filtration may be necessary.
