Sammanfattning

Designing touch controls for 3D mobile games is challenging due to the difficulty of translating 2D gestures into meaningful 3D interactions. This is particularly relevant for games or applications where users have to manipulate or inspect objects within a 3D environment, yet no widely adopted standard exists for touch-based 3D camera control. This thesis presents the design and implementation of a touch-based input system for interacting with 3D objects on mobile devices, with focus on camera control through gesture-based input. The system was designed to maximize intuitiveness, responsiveness and user satisfaction, and was evaluated through a user study involving five participants using a Tic-Tac-Toe prototype played on the surface of a cube. The results of the study suggest that relatively simple touch gestures can be effective for 3D interaction on mobile devices, although careful tuning of input mappings remains important and may benefit from further investigation.
