Aerodynamic analysis and redesign of a Formula Student front wing

Sammanfattning
This paper presents the redesign of the front wing of a Formula Student car, in which, following a methodology similar to the engineering design process, redesigns have been carried out through iterative improvements and analysed using CFD simulations, with the aim of enhancing the wing’s performance, such as the generated downforce. For the redesign, profile comparison charts were produced to select the most suitable one, with information obtained from well-established databases, and various elements were added and adjusted in order to improve the wing’s functions and correct the various errors that emerged. All the changes made were carried out in accordance with current competition regulations, as the base model was completely outdated. Finally, several possible future improvements of aerodynamic elements have been analysed and proposed.
