As artificial intelligence (AI) has become more accessible, the technology is increasingly being used to support everyday decision-making processes. At the same time, there is a need to examine how AI is applied in everyday decisions and which factors influence this use. The purpose of this study is to investigate how AI functions as decision support in everyday life, which factors influence this use. A qualitative approach was applied, based on semi-structured interviews with eleven informants in the age groups of 18-28 and 35-45. The empirical material was then analysed through thematic analysis, with UTAUT2 serving as the theoretical framework. The findings indicate that AI is integrated into different parts of everyday decision-making processes, where it mainly functions as a tool for gathering information, structuring alternatives, and developing reasoning. Furthermore, AI is applied in several everyday areas, such as planning, consumption-related decisions, text generation and creativity. Its use appears to be influenced by perceived usefulness, user-friendliness, accessibility and trust. The findings indicate a variation in usage frequency between the age groups. However, the areas of application are similar between the groups. Finally, the study shows that AI mainly serves as a supporting tool in the decision-making process, while the user evaluates the information and makes the final decision independently.
